A Romen Triumph

“The workshop was fun, inclusive and rewarding. I was really impressed with the engagement during the session and the final performance.” Year 3 Class Teacher, City Academy Whitehawk.

This June, I was invited to deliver dance workshops as part of City Academy Whitehawk’s Art week. The whole week was based on the painting A Roman Triumph, as part of the National Gallery Take One Picture primary school scheme.

The workshops drew on different aspects of the painting and were used as an introduction to the arts week. Children explored character movements, created group pieces and contributed to a class dance. Each class then performed what they had created to other classes, their class teachers and the senior leadership.
