NEW CHOREOGRAPHY: UnderStory

Hannah Pickett Dance has developed their new work 'UnderStory' a new contemporary dance work of four dancers that explores themes and personal stories promoting the importance of positive mental health and wellbeing. The dance work was inspired from feedback and discussion from socially isolated East Herts library users. The ideas and concepts included within the project were generated during a 7-day research and development residency at Letchworth Library. 'UnderStory' was performed in Hertford Library and Bishop's Stortford Library to showcase the Libraries’ strategy for tackling isolation. By bringing dance and culture into these public spaces, we aimed to reach new audiences, including isolated individuals, and generate positive conversations to promote East Herts libraries as community hubs. The project was in collaboration with the Hertfordshire Library Service, Hertford Theatre, East Herts County Council and was performed across three Libraries as part of the Hertfordshire Year of Culture 2020.
